Rockies Come Up Short at Chicago, 5-4
|
The Chicago White Sox knocked off the Colorado Rockies, 5-4, in American League action at Rate Field. Chicago pitcher and Redondo Beach, California, native Mike Kelly had an outstanding performance. Alec Asher snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-5 on the season. Sonny Gray suffered the loss. Chicago is now 80-80, while Colorado is 77-83.
The White Sox got a big at-bat from center fielder Alfredo Robles. For the game, Robles was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Chicago a 5-4 lead.
"Mike set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Chicago manager Morgan Ensberg.
