Giants Use Late Score to Top Rockies, 5-4
|
San Francisco beat Colorado at AT&T Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Dominic Smith. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Juan Sánchez claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 11-7. Pat Henderson, credited with the save, is now 39 for 46 in save opportunities.
San Francisco took a 5-3 lead on Raimel Tapia's 15th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Tapia hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Colorado pitcher Anderson Espinoza visibly frustrated.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said San Francisco manager Travis Fryman.
The wins continue to add up for San Francisco. The latest makes it 8 in a row.
