Crowds lined up early in front of Progressive Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2026 Major League Baseball season. On the mound was Kyle Heckbert for the visiting Baltimore Orioles and Jose C. Medina for the hometown Cleveland Guardians. In a spirited contest, the Orioles pulled out the win, defeating the Guardians by the score of 6-5. Especially impressive was Gleyber Torres. Kyle Heckbert earned the win for Baltimore. He lasted 8.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Earning his 1st save for Baltimore was Jung-ho Chang.

With one out in the top of the eighth, Alfredo Ramos had a game-changing hit. The Orioles center fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Chasen Shreve, making the score 4-2, Baltimore.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Ramos.
