Phillies Lose to Nationals in Walk-Off
|
The Washington Nationals opened their 2025 season with a triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies at Nationals Park. The final score was 4-3. Washington first baseman Christian Walker had a big game. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Robbie McJannett, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Walker hit a fastball from Brad Townsend for a run-scoring single. The Nationals, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Walker said.
