Big Day for Ikeda as Blue Jays Down Athletics, 9-2
A 4-RBI performance from first baseman Rintaro Ikeda, who led the AL in OPS with 1.008 last year, led the Toronto Blue Jays to a win over the Oakland Athletics, 9-2. The winner was Vince McSweeney, who threw 91 pitches over 5.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. With the loss, Oakland sinks to 1-1.

With Toronto leading 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Ikeda hit a changeup from Gabriel Ynoa for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 8-2.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Ikeda told the Toronto Today.
