The bad news for the Houston Astros: an opening day loss, 8-2, to the New York Mets at Minute Maid Park. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Brandon Nimmo. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times.

New York left fielder Walt Cook contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 7-0.

"I just tried to put the barrel on it," said Cook.
