A 3-RBI performance from right fielder Nomar Mazara, who finished 4th in the AL in runs with 116 in 2018, led the Baltimore Orioles to a win over the Minnesota Twins, 5-1. Carlos Rodon, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Twins to 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The Orioles raised their record to 2-1.

There was more than one reason the Orioles beat the Twins, but Mazara's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

Mazara attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
