Chicago beat Oakland in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Chicago Cubs starter Jon Hall turned in an exceptional performance against the Oakland Athletics at Wrigley Field, resulting in a Chicago win, 6-1. The winner was Hall. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Austin Nicely.
Franklin Barreto, who finished 5th in the NL in extra base hits with 68 in 2022, helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
Barreto called the win "a collective effort."
Oakland falls to 2-3.
