The St. Louis Cardinals topped the New York Mets, 7-6, in 10 innings at Busch Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of St. Louis second baseman Eric Anderson. Carlos A. Salazar, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. With their winning streak at 4, the Cardinals have raced to a strong start this season.

The decisive blow was delivered by Avery Romero in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Edgardo Castillo to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Aaron Thompson, the St. Louis skipper. "This one tested us."
