Good production from third baseman Ernie Jones helped the Cleveland Guardians topple the San Diego Padres, 8-3. Jones went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Guardians. San Diego, with the loss, is still a stout 4-1.

Cleveland shortstop Ben Ramsey contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a splitter to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 6-0.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ramsey told the Cleveland Herald.
