Tampa Bay Stopped, 2-1, by Milwaukee
|
The Milwaukee Brewers claimed a close win over the Tampa Bay Rays, due in large part to Joe Ross. The Milwaukee right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. Ross yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. Ed Gaines closed it out for his 2nd save.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from shortstop Kevin Thompson. For the game, Thompson went 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead.
"Joe was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Milwaukee manager Doug Dascenzo.
The win puts Milwaukee at 4-1.
