Reds Pin 6-1 Loss on Texas
|
Cincinnati beat Texas on the strength of starting pitcher Chris Kohler's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-1. In 6.2 innings, Kohler surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The win puts Cincinnati at 3-2.
Jake Bauers had a big 3-run home run for the Reds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from two-time All-Star Tim Hurst and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 5-0.
"Chris pitched his heart out," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Gonzalez.
