Late Heroics Net Blue Jays 2-1 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays used a top-flight performance from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Reyes to beat the Colorado Rockies, 2-1, in 10 innings. Juan Pérez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The win has Toronto at 4-2.
The Blue Jays got a clutch hit from designated hitter Rintaro Ikeda. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Blue Jays.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Toronto manager Don Mattingly.
