Texas used a superb performance from starting pitcher Iván Galló to down the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1. Lou Green earned the save for Texas, his 4th of the year. Cincinnati falls to 4-3.

Texas designated hitter Chris Moody contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 1-0.

"Some games build character," said Texas manager Eric Wedge. "Like this one."
