Spears, who finished 4th in the NL in triples with 8 in 2023, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Astros. The winner was Lachlan Madden, who threw 94 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. The loss puts Los Angeles at 3-5.

With Houston trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Spears hit a sinker from Rod Swift for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Astros ahead, 2-1.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Spears told the Houston Gazette.
