The Milwaukee Brewers faced a tough opponent in Kansas City pitcher Simon Mercedes, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Kauffman Stadium by a final score of 5-2. Mercedes went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Milwaukee, now 6-2, is playing great baseball to start the year.
The Brewers benefited from an error in the top of the third inning. Milwaukee was leading 2-1 when Steve Sanders hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Milwaukee in front, 4-1.
Sanders said his team "played with focus."
