The New York Yankees got a sterling performance from pitcher Jonathon Carroll, but the Miami Marlins still prevailed, 4-2. Carroll threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Dominic Leone recorded his 3rd save for Miami. The win puts Miami at 5-3.

Miami needed the clutch hitting of Edgardo Medina to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marlins on top, 3-2. For the game, Medina had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said New York manager Gary DiSarcina.
