Oakland catcher Ricardo A. Rodriguez contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the Seattle Mariners. Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Athletics. Vito Porchianelo was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. The loss drops Seattle to 4-5.
Had Artie Breslin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Breslin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Athletics.
Rodriguez told a Oakland Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
