The Pittsburgh Pirates got a marvelous performance from pitcher Jim Reynolds. The left-hander kept the Baltimore offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Pittsburgh victory at PNC Park. Reynolds, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. With the loss, Baltimore sinks to 4-5.

Pittsburgh left fielder Juan Reyes contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 2-0.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Reyes said after the game.
