New York right-hander José Ferrer pitched his team to victory over the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. The final score was 5-1. The Mets, now 7-3, have hit the ground running this season.

New York won the game in part because of Stan Davis. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-0. For the game, Davis had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"José's as tough as he is talented," said New York manager Mike Matheny.
