Aguilar Stars as Diamondbacks Top Hammers, 6-2
|
Jorge Aguilar powered the Arizona Diamondbacks to a win over the Atlanta Hammers. The final score was 6-2. The Arizona center fielder, who finished 2nd in the NL in triples with 12 in 2024, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 2 doubles. Arizona reliever Jody Davis picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Oscar Willis absorbed the loss. The victory makes Arizona 6-4, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2026.
The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from second baseman Christopher Torres. For the game, Torres was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Arizona a 4-2 lead.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Aguilar. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
