Orioles Suffer One-Run Loss at Chicago
|
Chicago parlayed a decent outing from starter Tim Brown into a solid win over the Baltimore Orioles. The final score was 5-4. Brown, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Tyler Kolek was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Dominic Smith came through for Chicago when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike fastball to left-center field, staking his team to a 3-1 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Baltimore manager Jackson Melian. "But we decided not to take it."
Baltimore, with the loss, is 4-6.
