The Mariners earned a hard-fought, 8-5 win in 11 innings at Globe Life Park in Arlington. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Texas pitcher Tim Hurst. Hurst went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was José Alomar. With the win, Seattle climbs to 5-7.
Seattle used a timely hit from Fidel Mejia to get the win. The shortstop stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mariners ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Mejia.
