Oakland Sends Atlanta Packing with 6-4 Loss
The Athletics grabbed a win, 6-4, at O.co Coliseum, overcoming a fine effort from Atlanta pitcher Mike Whiteford. Whiteford went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Oakland reliever Pedro Baez picked up the win to move to 1-0. Carlos A. Lopez suffered the loss. The loss drops Atlanta to 6-6.

Eric Caine helped out the Oakland cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"Very good win for our guys," said Caine.
