The home crowd had a good time watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates get after it.

The Pittsburgh Pirates handed the St. Louis Cardinals a 6-1 defeat at PNC Park. Right Fielder Dave Murray starred for Pittsburgh. He was 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. St. Louis now has a record of 6-5.

Brad McBride had a big 3-run home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Daniel Missaki, who led the AL in ERA with 2.64 in 2021, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Pirates on top, 5-1.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said McBride.
