Guardians 1B Thompson has 3 hits in Win
|
The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Kansas City Royals, 7-3, in part because of first baseman Liam Thompson. Thompson was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Guardians. The winner in relief was Luis Aguiler. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. The loss drops the Royals to 5-7.
Thompson had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 changeup from Jefferson Vergara, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Guardians a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Thompson.
"Solid performance from our side," said Guardians manager Tristan Bugbie.
