Giants Hand Cincinnati 4-2 Loss
|
Cincinnati got a big-time effort from pitcher Anthony DeSclafani, but it wasn't enough to keep the San Francisco Giants from winning the game, 4-2. DeSclafani threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Chet Greene, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Pat Henderson earned the save for San Francisco, his 4th of the year.
Los Angeles, California-born Dominic Smith came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Giants trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put San Francisco on top.
"I know everybody in here is putting in the work," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Gonzalez. "It's just not paying off."
The loss drops Cincinnati to 4-9.
