Rangers Squeeze By Chicago, 4-3
|
Chicago got a terrific performance from pitcher Jose Paulino, but it wasn't enough to beat the Texas Rangers. Texas won the Wrigley Field contest, 4-3. Paulino threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Jeremiah Wright was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Orlando Romero. Lou Green, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft, earned the save for Texas.
Jim Tate, who is tied for 8th in the AL in runs scored with 8, had a direct impact on the outcome. Tate contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Texas up, 4-3.
"Bottom line," said Chicago skipper Warren Schaeffer, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The loss drops the Cubs to 8-7.
