In a low-scoring tilt between the Cincinnati Reds and the Miami Marlins, Chris Sale, who finished 4th in the AL in ERA with 3.05 in 2012, was the difference-maker. The Cincinnati left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Dave Parsons earned the save, his 5th, for the Reds. Cincinnati, now 5-8, is off to a slow start.
Blake Anderson, who finished 2nd in the NL in slugging percentage with .543 in 2024, had a direct impact on the outcome. Anderson contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the ninth inning to put Cincinnati up, 3-2.
"When Chris is on, he can really move the ball around," said Cincinnati manager Kevin Cash.
