The Philadelphia Phillies used the hitting of third baseman Maikel Franco to subdue the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5. For the game, Franco went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Luis Miguel Rivera was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was former first round draft pick Dan Crawford. Alex Claudio earned save number 5 this season.

With Philadelphia trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Franco hit a sinker from Dan Crawford for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 2-1.

Philadelphia manager Chaz Frank was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.

With the loss, Arizona sinks to 8-6.
