Los Angeles pitcher Rod Swift did his part in helping his team beat the Seattle Mariners, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Swift, now 1-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Mariners drop to 5-9.
Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Juan López to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Angels ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
