Rays 8-6 Winners Over Atlanta
The Tampa Bay Rays topped the Atlanta Firebirds, 8-6, in American League action at Tropicana Field. The standout performance belonged to Tampa Bay pitcher and New York, native Rocky Smith. Smith got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Joe Montgomery earned the save for Tampa Bay, his 3rd.

Dylan Veeck had a big bases-clearing double for the Rays in the bottom of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from former first round draft pick Rocky Edwards and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rays ahead, 5-1.

"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Smith.

The Firebirds fall to 4-11 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2025 season.
