Cardinals Get Clutch Win Versus Philadelphia
|
The St. Louis Cardinals faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher R.J. Hansen, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Busch Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Hansen went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The win belonged to Carlos A. Salazar in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Mike Morin took the loss for Philadelphia. The win has St. Louis at 9-5.
Brian Schales was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Keep grinding," said Schales, "and good things are bound to happen."
