The Chicago Cubs weathered an outstanding game by Philadelphia center fielder Reginald Chase to topple the Phillies, 5-4. Chase went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jon Hall picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 4 in 5 innings. Orlando Romero finished the game for Chicago and earned his 4th save.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Dan Williams to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Williams.

The Phillies drop to 8-8 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2026 season.
