Minnesota pitcher Adys Portillo had a large part in his team beating the New York Mets, 1-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Mets fall to 5-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2025 season.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Twins had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when left fielder Magneuris Sierra hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Braden Shipley and made the score 1-0, Twins. Sierra went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

"That's baseball," said New York manager Raul Dominguez. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
