Giants Rocked By Phillies, 11-2
|
With right fielder Ivan Hakanson leading the charge, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the San Francisco Giants, 11-2, at Citizens Bank Park. Hakanson, who is tied for 5th in the NL in extra base hits with 10, went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. António Pacheco, who won the Cy Young Award in 2020, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Losses have been rare for the Giants, who are now 12-5.
With Philadelphia leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Hakanson hit a sinker from Clarence Davis for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 4-0.
Philadelphia manager Robby Jenkins commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
