The 8-3 Boston win over Tampa Bay was due in large part to Jim Williamson. The Red Sox left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Boston reliever Doug Bergeron snagged the win, upping his record to 2-1. Héctor Saldaña shouldered the loss. The Rays fall to 7-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2025 season.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Rafael Devers was at the plate when Boston scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Red Sox to go in front, 4-3.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Williamson.
