Atlanta Hammers starter Kevin Key hurled his team past the Miami Marlins, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Key, now 1-3. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Atlanta sits at 10-9 in the early going.

The Marlins had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Hammers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Clarence Shelton came to the plate. Shelton hit a run-scoring triple on a 0-1 changeup from Miami hurler Al Wills. It was Shelton's 3rd triple of the year.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Shelton.
