The Chicago White Sox got a magnificent effort from pitcher Mike Kelly, who kept Tampa Bay hitters in check en route to a 3-1 White Sox win at Rate Field. Kelly got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The Rays fall to 7-10 and continue their lackluster start to the 2026 season.

Dominic Smith, who finished 5th in the NL in hits with 178 in 2020, took Tampa Bay hurler Jose Quintana deep in the bottom of the third. His solo home run put the White Sox on top, 1-0. In all, Smith had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
