Athletics Lose to White Sox, 2-0
|
Rate Field hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Chicago White Sox went home winners at Rate Field, thanks in large part to starter Rocky Thompson. Thompson stifled the Oakland Athletics, enabling Chicago to grab the 2-0 win. Thompson got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 4 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Steve Peters earned the save for Chicago, his 2nd.
Jace Peterson had a big run-scoring triple for the White Sox in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a cutter from Kendall Graveman, who finished 2nd in the NL in ERA with 2.49 in 2017, and swatted a triple to center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 2-0.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Thompson.
The Athletics drop to 9-10 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2025 season.
