New York catcher Reese McGuire was instrumental in helping the Mets triumph, 3-1, over the St. Louis Cardinals. McGuire was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Kyle Crick closed the game out for New York, earning his 1st save. The loss lowers the St. Louis record to 12-8.

McGuire contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for New York in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, McGuire took a fastball from Luiz Gohara and stroked the home run to center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Mets to leap in front, 2-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said McGuire.
