Rays Pick Up 5-3 Win Against New York
Tampa Bay registered a win at Tropicana Field by beating the New York Yankees, 5-3. Pitcher Kevin Murray was one reason why the Rays triumphed. Murray yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. The save went to Héctor Saldaña, number 1 for him.

Jesús Pacheco had a big 2-run home run for the Rays in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tampa Bay leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Yordano Ventura, who led the AL in wins with 17 in 2015, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Rays on top, 4-0.

"Kevin has got a slow heartbeat," said Tampa Bay manager Joey Cora. "He doesn't panic or anything."

The Yankees fall to 8-13 and continue their sputtering start to the 2025 season.
