Red Sox Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
In a tight contest between the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers, Juan Cervantes was the determining factor. The Boston right-hander sparkled in his team's 1-0 win. Terence McCray, who led the NL in saves with 39 in 2022, earned the save for Boston. Boston has a mark of 9-12 after the win.
The Red Sox got a big boost from designated hitter Ed Dennis who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning off Tigers hurler Stu Ladnier. It was his 4th RBI of the season and put Boston on top, 1-0.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Cervantes.
