Twins Score 6-3 Win Against Cincinnati

The Minnesota Twins faced a tough opponent in Cincinnati pitcher Chris Sale, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Target Field by a final score of 6-3. Sale went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. Shawn Cummings was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jorge Fajardo got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 7th of the year.
Alex Martin had a big 3-run home run for the Twins in the bottom of the first inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Chris Sale, who finished 3rd in the AL in strikeouts with 226 in 2013, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Twins on top, 4-0.
"Solid performance from our side," said Twins manager Robin Ventura.
For the Reds, the loss makes them 8-14.
