Getting an impressive start from Marc Collins, Los Angeles beat St. Louis by the score of 3-2. Collins, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Héctor Rosado collected his 1st save.
Mike Trout had a big solo home run for the Angels in the bottom of the first inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Rose and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 3-0.
"We were in it," said St. Louis manager Aaron Thompson. "We just didn't score enough runs."
With the win, Los Angeles boosts its record to 11-12.
