Walker Shines in 6-3 Atlanta Win
|
Atlanta and Philadelphia duked it out and the Hammers came out victorious.
The Atlanta Hammers stopped the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-3, at Citizens Bank Park. The Hammers got a big game from Phil Walker, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Mike Whiteford, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 2.
Atlanta took a 6-1 lead on Walker's 5th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which he hit off Ethan Fleming in the top of the seventh, propelled Atlanta to the win.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Walker told the Atlanta Bulletin.
With the loss, Philadelphia is 12-9.
