The Houston Astros converted a terrific effort from starter Vince McSweeney into a win over the Toronto Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park. The Astros won the game by a final score of 5-1. The winning pitcher was McSweeney, now 3-1. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. The win brings the Astros to 8-14, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.

The Astros got a big at-bat from catcher Tyrone Ibarra. For the game, Ibarra was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Houston a 3-1 lead.

"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said McSweeney.
