Phillies Need Extra Innings to Top Mets, 10-7
|
The Philadelphia Phillies grabbed a win, 10-7, over the New York Mets at Citi Field. Philadelphia first baseman Jonas Lantigua was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Brad Townsend got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. The Mets fall to 8-14 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2025 season.
Philadelphia used a timely hit from Michael Garnier to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 8-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Philadelphia manager Robby Jenkins.
