Mets Lose Late to Twins
|
New York wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher José Ferrer, falling to the Minnesota Twins, 3-1. Ferrer threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Minnesota goes to 15-10.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Andy Townsend to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Townsend called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
