Cubs Earn Late 7-6 Win
Los Angeles third baseman Toshikuni Kondo was sensational. He was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chicago beat the Dodgers, 7-6. Losses have been few and far between for the Dodgers, now 22-4.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Victor Caratini came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Jesus Arroyo, he hit a 2-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 7-6.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Caratini, "but we got it done."
