The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Boston Red Sox, 10-3, in American League action at Progressive Field. Joe Wendle pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Cleveland, now 9-16, is off to a slow start.

With Cleveland leading 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Wendle hit a fastball from Craig Kimbrel for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Guardians ahead, 7-3.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Wendle. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
